About this act:
The DGA has been in force since 24 September 2023 and aims to create a uniform legal framework for the sharing of data. The regulation is aimed in particular at data intermediary services and public institutions. Neutral access to data and interoperability are to be ensured, as access to personal and non-personal data and their use play an important role in the economy, science and society. The aim is to increase data availability and strengthen trust in data exchange.
The Regulation is divided into a total of nine chapters (Chapter I: General provisions, Chapter II: Reuse of certain categories of protected data held by public bodies, Chapter III: Requirements for data intermediation services, Chapter IV: Data altruism, Chapter V: Competent authorities and procedural rules, Chapter VI: European Data Innovation Board, Chapter VII: International access and transfer, Chapter VIII: Delegation and committee procedures, Chapter IX: Final and transitional provisions).
